My wife has been getting more into bodybuilding and fitness. She's gone with me to some shows and has develped a great appreciation for the sport.
The other day a book came in the mail. I asked her what it was and she said it was a diet/nutrition book that she found on Amazon. She said she bought it because it had some interesting recipes.
I opened it up and it was the contest prep book SLICED from the early 90s with Gary Strydom and Negrita Jayde on the cover (It was great when she said, "babe, what's MCT oil". I owned the book years ago but had given it away along with hundreds of mags and books to a relative.
Anyhow, it was great to see it again and hilarious that my wife had just ordered it out of the blue.
Do you guys have any favorite bodybuilding books or mag. editions that you remember fondly? My two favorite magazines are a Musclemag edition from the early 90s with Andreas Munzer on the cover and the first Musclemag I ever bought in 89 with Franco Santoriello on the cover.

Oh wow, we have the same book on the shelf..sliced was the coolest thing in its day...funny to see how the women have changed, huh?? I remember buying the old Ironman when it was like 6" X 10" with Ed Corney on the cover!!! My wife used to love Womens Physique World before it got sleazy. MCT oil I remember not too fondly of a really lethal intestinal disorder from taking too much of!!!! I used to have tons of the old mags which had some great articles. I still like MuscleMag and Muscular Development. I'm going to do a shoot with Musclemag with Lee in a couple of weeks, should be COLD....
Franco..that's a name I haven't heard in a while...

I remember trying Twinlab MCT oil for the first time and puking all over the place. Good times. That was also when I thought boron would really raise my test levels 300%.
To add to the 'favorites' collection: I have to add "Muscle, Confessions of an Unlikely Bodybuilder" by Sam Fussell and "Built" by Bob Paris.
Rusty, best of luck in your upcoming show. Have a great time!

Remember smilax, dibencozide, or orchic extract? Cybergenics anyone!? How about Rusty's old Cybergenics add? "My picture speaks for itself, Cybergenics is the way." Ahh, back in the day. I saw some pictures of Negrita in musclemag a few years back, and she looked better in those shoots the back in the early 90's!
Favorite books? Hmm... Arnold's, "Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding." All of Dan Duchaine's "books" put out by Mile High Publishing. That was Bill Phillips outfit before he went mainstream.
