There's a lot of garbage out there. It's especially bad when it makes a comeback. Bencher, did you post your pics somewhere? I hope your wife feels better soon.

Cool. I'll check it out. I've been to a few forums where there is way too much trash talking. Weak people with big egos just putting one another down like a bunch of morons. They are fun to read, but not exactly the guys I want to share ideas with.

yorge you won't find any of that stuff there, we ban that crap automatically, maybe too much because it gets a little slow with traffic. Check it out and post. I have a motivational thread over there with some cool old pics of some guys, some crazy conditioned bbers from the 90's.

Well, I haven't posted for a while on Rusty's board, but I'm still here! Not much to report, except that I just had an interview with Chad Ray Martin in the April ish of Ironman. This month's book, meaning May, features a 14 page spread on Flex Wheeler that I did about six or seven months back. They did a great layout, and I'm happy to report they printed every word!
Future interviews include Kevin Levrone, collegiate sensation Matt Burzacott, Chris Jalali (incredible young Bodybuilder), Roger Callard (of Pumping Iron fame), and Greg Plitt (one of the nation's most famous physique models). Greg's will appear in Men's Workout magazine, while the others will be in Ironman. I also have interviews pending with Rusty, Rory Leidelmeyer, Adam Dexter (of Colt), Steve Kuclo (awesome physique), Gary Strydom and Jeff King.
These are just my Bodybuilding interviews. I've been pretty busy doing other stuff, too--mostly for the horror movie press. Ask Rusty, I'm a big horror film fan!
The article on Rusty has been a long time coming, but when I'm finally done, it should be a doozy. For those not in the know, he and I collaborated on a big interview in MuscleMag, circa 2002 called "Slugging it Out." Rusty was and still is one of the most interesting people I've ever interviewed. He isn't afraid to tell it like it is, a very refreshing quality.
That's all for now!
Rod

I'm really looking forward to the Rory Leidelmeyer interview. I saw him compete in the old AAU Mr. Universe back in the mid 80's. One of the greatest physiques of all time, and not to mention one of the strongest bodybuilders ever! Thanks for the update!

I have had the opportunity to meet chad Martin many times and he is a great guy and a great bodybuilder. He is guest posing along with Mark Dugdale at the Lonestar here on TX June 2nd. Very big family man and a good business man too, always look forward to seeing him.

Job title? Well, I'm just your average freelance writer. Began the summer before my last year at college and entered the Bodybuilding field one year later. My first interview was with Jeff King in an ish of MuscleMag (September 1985). For a long time, I wrote for the old Muscle Training Illustrated magazine. I did interviews with Bill Grant, Rory, Chris Aceto, Shawn Ray, and Ron Love. Then I moved over to Fangoria magazine and covered all the Stephen King films made in Maine, my home state. Now, I divide my time between physique stuff and horror stuff. Rusty and I connected in 2001, when I sent him an e-mail via Colt. I received a "generated response," meaning a form letter e-mail...but lo and behold, a month later, the real deal dropped me a line. We hit it off, worked our butts off on the interview, and then sent it off to MuscleMag. When it hit print, my name had been removed (don't ask) and "The Editors" put in as the author. I was some pissed! I've been with IronMan since 1998 and freelance quite heavily with them. The Flex Wheeler interview they have in their current issue is one of my favorites, and it came out great. Freelancing is fun, and it was relatively easy for me to get my feet wet. It took me a while to build up enough nerve to approach the people I wanted to write about, but experience is a great helper! I've made many cool friendships, including Rusty, Jeff King, Rory, Larry Scott (I've written four articles on him), Shawn Ray, Roger Callard ("Stacy" of Colt), Adam Dexter (Colt), Bruno (Colt), Bill Pearl, Dave Draper, Frank Zane, Rich Gaspari, Andy Bick (aka "Zeb Atlas"), Dave Hatfield (aka "Nate Christiansen") and Greg Plitt. Do any of you guys read Men's Workout magazine? I had an interview in their last fall, an interview with Zeb. That came out pretty well. My next interview for them is with Greg Plitt, perhaps the most popular fitness models on the scene today. He's always on the cover of one magazine or the other. Also, Sagi Kalev is another bud of mine. Great guy, great look. Rising above them all, however, is Mr. Rusty Jeffers. Cool, down to earth, funny as hell, and a true observer of human nature, Rusty is one in a million! Rod

Very cool Rod, sounds like you have an interesting career. Maybe you should come down to TX and do an article on guys who train out of their garages. Something different, I promise the intensity is just as great as it is in Commercial gym. Stick around and post some, sure would like to hear some cool stories.
