Very cool Rod, sounds like you have an interesting career. Maybe you should come down to TX and do an article on guys who train out of their garages. Something different, I promise the intensity is just as great as it is in Commercial gym. Stick around and post some, sure would like to hear some cool stories. Rusty is one of them! His garage is a gym, and He has prepared for many shows there. He is a connoisseur of equipment, and has even built some really nice stuff himself. He put together his first "garage" gym in a shed at his parents house as a teenager. He dubbed it, "The Torture Chamber". He even had a logo for it. He built a lat machine that I believe had a stack that went up to 500lbs. This thing was stout. I know he still goes to a commercial gym to change things up, but as he says, "The Torture Chamber is always open 24/7."

I've actually interviewed a lot of Texas Bodybuilders, guys like Sagi Kalev, Chris Jalali, and Johnnie Jackson. They all say the state is great, though it definitely does get hot! I much prefer the cooler and more moderate New England temps--but the snow, wow! I could do without that!
The trouble with doing Bodybuilding profiles/interviews is keeping them different and interesting. Most Bodybuilders I've had the pleasure of talking to (Rusty included) have good minds, strong opinions (and not always about the sport), and great senses of humor. Rusty, for example, has quite the biting wit! And he doesn't pull any punches, either. That's just the kind of person I love to work with because they make the assignment a pleasure instead of a chore.
As for interesting stories to tell...I must admit, I have my share! Whadya want to know?

yeah I understand about making interviews interesting. some of them get old after a while. Hopefully one day you will be interviewing me. lol. I think we would all enjoy a good story or two if you feel like typing it out, i know I would.
